 ******Note: Effective with the Mar 2023 AD and TAR exam cycle, the requirement for all E-4 candidates to take the NWAE to compete for advancement to E-4 is permanently eliminated. The Navy learned many lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, and use of the Alternative Final Multiple Score (A-FMS) to determine E-4 advancements has proven to be an effective metric that will support Marketplace-based advancement initiatives.
